It's that time of the year again.."NEW YEAR...NEW ME!" ehhhhhh...I DONT LIKE IT! I have adopted a different mentality within the last couple of years....STRIVING TO BE BETTER DAILY! Constantly evaluating myself against my goals and just honoring a desire to be better. I think that the idea of New Year Resolutions are daunting especially if you break the promise to yourself before the end of January. It then causes you to go down this self-bashing path. Why so hard on yourself? Give yourself the benefit of the doubt Gee..ok. I got it.
Around this time of the year, its also easy to get so caught up on what you want for next year, that you neglect the growth and blessings that you experienced in the current year. I know...I know...sometimes it's just hard to keep up. I've got great news...I have a SOLUTION...to the RESOLUTIONS!
1. I write a list of prayers and goals for the following year and I post it on my vision board. I pray over it throughout the year and reference it frequently in my quiet moments. I DO NOT OPEN THE PAPER all year. Around this time...I open it and it is SO AMAZING to see how God has moved. I share the exact prayer I wrote for my friends with them and they too are amazed. I challenge you to do the same.
2. My friend Annie started asking me a series of questions at the end of last year and we have a conversation around the questions. It really is a great way to specifically reflect on the events of the year and it makes it easier to benchmark personal growth. Write the answers to the following questions down and have an insightful convo with a close friend.
